Backend Developer (Spring Boot) for Business Networking & Learning App (Freelance, Remote)

Description:
We are building a mobile application that combines the networking power of LinkedIn with the educational aspect of YouTube. The app allows professionals to connect, share knowledge, and learn through videos and posts.

We are looking for a Backend Developer with Spring Boot experience to build and deliver the backend services for our MVP. You will collaborate closely with the CTO, a React Native developer, and the UI/UX designer.

Responsibilities:

• Develop REST APIs for:

  • User authentication & profiles

  • Follow/connect system

  • Content feed (posts, videos)

  • Video upload & playback integration (via Mux/Vimeo API)

• Design and implement the data model in PostgreSQL.

• Ensure proper security and scalability of the backend.

• Containerize the application with Docker for deployment.

• Collaborate with the mobile developer to integrate the API.

Requirements:

• Strong experience in Java/Kotlin + Spring Boot.

• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases.

• Experience building and documenting REST APIs.

• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD workflows.

• Good communication skills in English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with video integration (Mux, Vimeo API).

• Knowledge of microservices (not required for MVP).

• Previous startup experience.
